About CDANY

Consumer Directed Action of New York was formed in summer 2022 to address the growing need for strong political action and grassroots advocacy surrounding the future of self-directed home care in New York State. 

We build self-directed power by bringing together aging & disabled New Yorkers, fiscal intermediaries, and other allies to strengthen New York’s Consumer Directed Personal Assistance (CDPA) program through:

  • Statewide and local community organizing

  • Educating and training the public on how to become more involved in advocacy;

  • Engaging elected officials through direct and grassroots lobbying;
  • Coalition work with organizations who share our values;
  • Bringing together New Yorkers who dream of a future where self-directed home care is accessible to all.

Consumer Directed Action of New York is the sister organization of the Consumer Directed Personal Assistance Association of New York State (CDPAANYS), founded in 2000 by CDPA consumers who had been meeting since CDPA became law.
